My current research involves mixed-level models of voter turnout in long-term democracies with emphasis on factors related to union membership and the success of labor and socialist parties.  My research on turnout in the United States specifically focuses on the influence of interpersonal networks and norms.
I have two research projects of a global nature. The first evaluates the process of democratization by the progression of national elections and a study of a new type of gravity model for understanding international trade. My research on Catholicism relates to social desirability bias in surveys for church attendance questions and a study of malapportionment in the College of Cardinals.
